My name is Georgina K. Martin. My Gitanyow Name is Nox B’ah”. I have three sons and a daughter. I come from Wilp (House) Wii Litsxw. I lived in Gitanyow the majority of my life. My late mothers name is Evangeline A Martin (H’atagum’yeah) and my late fathers name is Peter Martin (Guux wo’otxw). I am a Gitanyow Member and a newly elected board of director.
My hopes and dreams is to better the services of the Gitxsan Nation. I have passion to help my elders, youth and children. I believe in equality and fairness. I have volunteered my time helping with community activities. I encourage post secondary students to apply for bursaries and help with letter writing and resume for employment search.
I attend traditional feast (l’ili git), Chiefs Gathering, Smoke Feast, and Memorials on a regular basis. On behalf of our Wilp I make speeches at these gatherings. Also, I speak on behalf of the Gitanyow Human Services.
I am presently on the PAC committee (President), the Gitanyow Gitxsan Child & Family Services Committee, the Gitanyow Human Services Board Representative, and the Gitxsan Child & Family Services Society Board of Director.
I have worked as a substitute teacher since Indian day school, I teach cultural song and dance to the Gitanyow Day Care (3/4 yr old). Also, I love to volunteer and help the elders and youth. I believe that I play a major role model for my community.
